TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB

TDCC is a Northern Irish indie rock* and electropop music band. They are from Bangor (a city near Belfast). The singer is Alex Trimble, the guitarists are Kevin Baird and Sam Halliday. They started to sing together in high scool, in 2007.
The band's name was taken from Halliday's mispronunciation of the name of the local cinema "Tudor Cinema" in Belfast.

Up to now, they have released 2 albums: "Beacon" (2012) and "Tourist history" (2010).

I like this front cover, I think it is original, funny and a bit strange.

This one is really surprising too.
Some of their songs are international hits, as "Sun" or "What you know", which is particularly famous in France because it is the main theme of the "Française des Jeux" advertisement:
Listen to this full song!!
Their lyrics are not really serious, they talk about love and everyday life.
They say that they are inspired by Canadian bands, like Stars or Broken Social Scene which is an indie rock group.

In July 2012, Trimble participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, singing "Caliban's Dream", a song written by  Rick Smith, from Underworld (english band of the 90s).

I love this band because their songs are dynamic and invigorate me!
This is Alex Trimble, the singer. Don't you think he looks like Tintin ?
*Indie means independent: non-commercial rock, breaking the mainstreams.

Where was this band created ?
Which country do its members come from ?
