Kenya and Tanzania: The call of the wild!

What happened to the giants of the savana ?

They are called “ The Big Five “ ,  the five major trophies for hunters : rhino, lion, elephant , buffalo, leopard . They have almost disappeared.

The black rhinoceros : A miracle !

This animal has almost disappeared because of the traffic of its horns , which are sold worldwide . Today there are only 60 in the natural park of Kenya and the world , but according to WWF there are 3600 rhinos in the wild .

The lion : A too fragile  king

The lion is rare outside protected areas because they are hunted by poachers. Today there are probably 23.000 lions (in 2004) whereas there were 20 years ago.

The elephant : rescued in extremis

The elephant was killed around 1850, about 30.000 elephants were killed annually for their very precious ivory tusks .Today the sale of ivory is banned.

Buffalo : normally quiet

The African buffalo does not seem very threatened. Although there are many killed by diseases transmitted by domestic animals and regularly jogged by hunters, fortunately it is regulated in certain areas .

The Leopard : protected by its prudence

The most mysterious of the“ Big Five “. Difficult to observe , it lives in hiding. His hunting has been regulated since July 2007 , but some people illegally hunt.

What’s the news at G.Desnos ?

The college cross country race.

It took place on Tuesday November 16, from 10 to 12 am, in the public garden, behind the college, next to the river.
There were around 100 pupils from all forms.
For the 4 èmes, the winners are Rémi Marchand and Magdeline Fefeu.

Discover a European country

IRELAND

Ireland is a country ( and an island ) located west of Great-Britain, there are 4 446 000 inhabitants. Its surface is 69 797 square kilometers.
In this country the weather is mild with maximum 25°C in the summer and in the winter it is fresh and rainy, as in the proverb “ In Ireland, the weather is beautiful several times in the same day . “





Ireland is a country of Europe, so euro is the currency used.
The president's name is Mary McAleese.

For breakfast, Irish people eat  scrambled eggs, sausages, a cup of tea, or a cup of coffee.
They drink whiskey and beer, ... and they eat porridge, soda farl.
St Patrick's day, the national and religious feast takes place on 17th March.

    Usher

     Raymond Terry Usher IV, more famous as Usher or still Usher Raymond, is a singer of R' N' B, a dancer, an actor, a lyrics writer and finally a producer. He was born on October 14th, 1978 in Dallas, in Texas, USA.
     It is during an amateur competition in the city of Atlanta, that a leader of " The Face Records " discovers the young Usher who is then only 14 years old. In a short time, his career took a surprising importance because Antonio "L.A" Reid did not hesitate to offer him a contract.
     Antonio "L.A" Reid is an American producer. He is known as the founder, in 1989, of the famous label "The Face Records" with his long time friend  Babyface. He is at present the leader of the group: Island Def Jam Music Group.

He has released 8 albums, among which one is in preparation at the moment :

Dance love pop is the third album of Swedish artist Agnes Carlsson .
It was released on October 29, 2008 in Sweden, the album is written by  Swedish songwriter Anders Hansson.
In addition to its success in Sweden, it enables her to be known as well in the Netherlands as in Denmark.
It is a kind of Pop, R& B and dance .
The album is composed of eleven songs:

FILM REVIEW

Despicable me

It is an American cartoon produced  by Universal Pictures which tells the story of Gru , an armed man who wants to steal the moon. But one day , he meets three orphans named Margot, Edith and Agnes who see him as a dad. Gru then has to take care of these girls who make only silly things.
This cartoon is good because the girls are funny and very sweet and  Gru’s weapons are not  right and often explode .


Street Dance 3D

 


Street Dance 3D is an English movie realized by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini. It is about the first « dance movie » shot in 3D.
A dance group from London is selected in the national championship of street dance. Unfortunately, they haven’t enough  money for a dancing room.It is then that Helena, a ballet  (classical dancing)  teacher, wants to lend them  a rehearsal room to practice in on one condition : to integrate five  ballet dancers  for the street dance final .

Paranormal Activity 2

It is an American horror movie realized by Tod William.
A new familly has just moved in a house but the ghost of the first Paranormal Activity film comes to haunt them.

COOKING

Apple Pie Recipe

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

- 100g white sugar
- 60 ml water
- 8 apples-peeled, cored and sliced
- 110 g brown sugar
- 115 g butter
- 25 g flour
- 1 ready-made pastry (or 2 if you want to cover your pie)
- cinnamon

Directions:

1) Preheat the oven  (220°C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour to form the dough.
2) Mix water, white sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon and bring to a boil.

3) Put the pastry in the pie dish. Fill with apples. Cover with the second pastry.

4) Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust.

5) Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 175°C. Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until the apples are soft.
